My name is Drew. I am a student at Duke Divinity School and graduate of Florida Southern College. I am a certified candidate in the United Methodist Church, and looking forward to being an ordained Elder (excuse the John Wesley references). This is my blog about life, faith, theology, and anything random which comes to my mind. I think that blogs are inherently narcissistic, however, as an only child, I have come to terms with my self-centeredness and know that God and I are working on it.
Why Subway Prophet? I chose this name, not because I feel like I am a prophet (those are some big shoes to fill!). Instead, I went with one of my favorite lines from the Simon and Garfunkel song, “Sound of Silence”
And the sign said ‘The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sound of silence
Just as we cannot hide our faith under a basket, theology cannot be silent. It must be shared in the public square, and articulated in a way that anyone with a PhD or no degree can hear the Gospel and be empowered to share that with the world.
That being said, I hope that this blog is not me just writing as if I have all the answers, because I don’t. My goal is to start a conversation, so if you agree, disagree, or have something to add, please feel free to comment, or let me know because I would love to learn more from our dialogue.
